Weekly Highlights and Latest News
On Thursday, Year 9 students explored I/GCSE and BTEC pathways with the Creative Arts Faculty. Hearing directly from teachers and older students who shared their coursework gave our younger learners practical insights into each subject. The session offered clear guidance to support Year 9 in making informed option choices.
Year 7 and 8 French students took part in an energetic French Spelling Bee from Thursday to Friday. Demonstrating a genuine passion for language learning, students showed impressive focus and quick recall under tight time limits. Well done to all students who stepped up to celebrate their French vocabulary with such enthusiasm.
Our European Languages Department recently celebrated the Festival du Film d’Animation, organised by the Alliance Française de Hong Kong. Students gathered for a screening of short French animated films that encouraged creativity and thoughtful reflection. Thank you to the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau for providing access to the films and generously treating students to French pastries.
A group of Year 12 students launched a whole-school shoebox donation appeal to support children and teenagers across our local community. By organising and leading this collection drive, our students encourage everyone across all year groups to take practical action in service of others. The initiative offers a meaningful opportunity to build empathy and share essential items with peers their own age.
Excitement is building across the school as students prepare for our annual Diwali Ball next Thursday. Performers have dedicated their energy and time to rehearsing dance routines. We look forward to seeing our community celebrate together in their festive cultural attire.
Students in Baking Maniac have developed practical baking and decorating skills, exploring recipes from red velvet cupcakes and banana bread to tiramisu and bubble tea mousses. Working collaboratively in the food technology kitchens, they enjoyed sharing culinary techniques, building confidence and tasting their creations alongside peers.
Students have enjoyed developing their artistic skills and expressing their creativity during Crafts Corner sessions in the Visual Arts studios. Working in a relaxed, supportive environment, participants have designed a variety of handmade items, including phone charms, personalised keychains, and decoden pieces. These mindfulness sessions offer students a welcoming space to learn new crafting techniques and unwind alongside peers after lessons.
Our student-led Film Club has made steady progress this term, moving from technical workshops into hands-on production. Students actively share knowledge of cinematography, sound design, and digital editing. Working in collaborative crews, members are now applying these skills to write, shoot, and edit their own original short films.
