Weekly Highlights
On Tuesday, students in each year group participated in our whole-school mini Weez Walk, following our cross-country course through the Pok Fu Lam neighbourhood. It was a wonderful opportunity to step outside the classroom for a meaningful cause.
Thank you to the families who contributed and donated through the West Island School fundraising page on the Weez website to support Mind HK.
While preparing for our own Sports Day, our Years10–11 students participated in Kennedy School’s (KS) Sports Day this Thursday as part of their future-proofing course, Sports Leadership.
Through these real-life leadership experiences, our students further developed their interpersonal and leadership skills. Well done to everyone involved.
As part of the Year 12 IB DP Biology course, students recently visited Little Palm Beach at Clearwater Bay. This field trip was an essential opportunity to study local ecological principles first-hand. Students conducted practical investigations to collect meaningful data, which they will now use to develop their analytical skills back in the lab.
Over the weekend of 31 January to 1 February, our Model United Nations (MUN) team participated in the Discovery College Model United Nations (DCMUN).
Well done to Year 12 students Ashutosh and Ethan, who were both awarded Best Delegate.
This week, our campus is abuzz with the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year.
A particular highlight is the stunning calligraphy gracing our school entrance, beautifully crafted by Year 12 student, Alvin. His work features a couplet with the profound sentiment: “With kindness and equality, the mind remains as vast and serene as the eternal sea; with an enlightened heart, one’s inner spirit shines as bright as a lamp that never fades.”
Beyond the decorations, our students have been immersed in various cultural enrichment activities during their Chinese lessons. From the artistry of painting Beijing Opera masks and traditional paper cutting to calligraphy and singing Chinese songs, the classrooms have been filled with creativity and tradition.
The excitement continues to build as everyone looks forward to our Lunar New Year Assembly next week, where we will come together as a community to welcome the Year of the Horse.
