Weekly Highlights
On Thursday, our European Languages team hosted an inter-school French and Spanish Languages Competition. The event brought together MYP students from a total of four international schools, including ESF King George V School (KGV), ESF Sha Tin College (STC), and Yew Chung International School (YCIS).
Students competed in three categories: an exciting Year 7 Spelling Bee, a challenging Year 8 Translation Bee, and an eloquent Year 9 French Speech competition.
The students’ impressive linguistic skills and enthusiasm truly made the day a fantastic cultural festival. Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating their talent in languages and culture. Un grand merci to the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau for their generous prize donations.
Students participated in our Wednesday Bake Off as individuals or small groups, and they donated all collected proceeds to support the victims of the recent fire in Tai Po. A hearty well done to our students for their initiative.
Students in the Lower School have been participating in a number of assemblies and tutor visits where staff have been distributing certificates, postcards, and cups for a wide range of achievements this term. We are have distributed Bronze and Silver Credit Certificates, Learner Profile Postcards and Awards, Star Search Cups,Tutee of the Term Certificates and Attendance Certificates.
Congratulations to all the students who have won awards and recognition this term and demonstrated exemplary effort in their learning. Student "shout-out" letters will also be sent home to further recognise individual student achievement.
On Tuesday, our Year 10 and Year 11 Future Proofing: Events Management group participated in a valuable curriculum enrichment visit to the JW Marriott Hong Kong.
Our students had the privilege of meeting the Head of Events Management, the General Manager, and his assistant at the JW Marriott. During the visit, students gained insight into the intricacies and logistics of planning large-scale events. They also developed a deeper appreciation for the high levels of communication, collaboration and teamwork required to run the daily operations of such a large organisation.
We look forward to seeing the students apply these professional insights to their own upcoming event planning projects.

Our Dynasty Leaders celebrated the collective efforts and achievements of each Dynasty during the Inter-Dynasty (ID) activities in their recent showcase report. We invite you to read on and cheer on their enthusiasm.
During Term 1, our Head Students, alongside the student leaders of each ESF secondary school, discussed and shared ideas regarding themes of Kindness, Leadership and Sustainability. By sharing initiatives, our Head Students gained valuable insight into how other ESF schools promote diversity and school spirit. By collaborating across campuses, our Head Students not only shape the culture of our school but also strengthen the collective ESF community. Well done to our Head Student on leveraging student voice to drive positive change.
Our Pre-16 Student Leaders highlighted the Student Mentorship Programme, the positive impact of kindness messages, and their support for aspiring student leaders. In their latest newsletter, they also celebrated the Head Students' efforts in enhancing student privacy and safety.
Year 11 student Clyth participated in the Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition 2025 and impressed the judges with a deeply personal and creative piece of historical fiction. Well done to Clyth on claiming the Gold Award in this competition.
On Tuesday, WIS hosted a Cross Country mini-meet around the waterfront and Sandy Bay area. This event was a fantastic opportunity for students to gain eligibility for the finals in January and experience real race conditions against other schools.
A total of 135 students from five schools competed, with Almos (Year 7) finishing second overall, and Year 7 students Adrian and Alvis and Year 11 student Illias placing in the top six.
Special thanks to Ms Caldwell, Mr Donald, and the WIS Running Community for hosting, as well as the student first aiders stationed around the course. Well done to all participants.
Our sports teams have had an outstanding term, competing in the highest divisions across both ISSFHK and most HKSSF sports. We are thrilled by the remarkable number of students who demonstrated the courage and passion to join our teams this term. Congratulations to every participant for displaying excellent sportsmanship and resilience throughout the season.

A big shout-out to our incredible swimmers, Year 7 Jamie and Year 13 Duncan, who set new records for ISSFHK Swimming at the recent finals. Duncan's domination in the Boys U20 category saw him set a new record in the 50m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke, and 50m Freestyle. Year 7 Jamie smashed the Girls U12 50m Butterfly record.

Year 11 student Gwyneth recently represented Hong Kong as a member of the U15 Girls Hockey team in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Youth Exchange Programme in Guangzhou.
Gwyneth is one of our outstanding student athletes from our High Performance Student Athlete Programme (HPSAP).
Last Sunday, our talented musicians showcased their skills at a renowned live music venue on Hong Kong Island. We are proud to see our students sharing their enthusiasm and engaging with the local music scene.

Give your pre-loved books a second life! We encourage you to donate your books—in any language, fiction or non-fiction—provided the content is healthy and the books are in good condition.
Please drop them off in the designated box outside the school reception. The books will be sold at the Book Stall during the WIS Bazaar on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

The International Food Court at the WIS Bazaar will feature delicious dishes from various cuisines, along with baked goods and drinks. Our PTA is seeking volunteers to support the food court in the following key areas:
Food Stalls: Help with menu planning, pricing, and volunteer coordination. This will involve attending some meetings with the PTA.
New Stalls: We warmly welcome new additions alongside Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, BBQ, and more.
Donations: Contributions of cooked food or cash for essential items are vital for smooth operations.
