Weekly Highlights
This week, our 2026-2027 Year 7 cohort visited West Island School to explore their new campus.
The students were greeted with a warm welcome as they began their transition journey.
Students enjoyed meeting their future classmates and teachers, immersing themselves in the WIS learning spirit and discovering new passions across a variety of subjects.
Through the lessons and activities, we observed our students embodying our core values: Community, Compassion, and Courage. It was inspiring to see them embrace the "we" to build a sense of community, show compassion by supporting one another through new challenges, and demonstrate courage by trying new things where they might struggle through their learning journey. We are so proud of how our new cohort of students is already making these values their own.
Well done to our Post-16 students and Student Leaders for mentoring our new students. Through this cross-year group support, our leaders have modeled what it means to be part of the WIS family, while the new students have gained the confidence and reassurance needed to begin their secondary school journey with ease.
Our School Ambassadors continue to develop their leadership skills while cultivating a sense of belonging for new students and families within our community. Recently, they were invited to share the story of their leadership journey through a podcast. In this episode, they cover:
Essential Skills: Identifying the attributes necessary for effective student leadership.
Student-Driven Growth: Developing processes and procedures within the school's leadership programmes.
IB Learner Profile: How leadership opportunities help students exemplify core learner attributes.
Growth Mindset: The vital role of resilience and a growth mindset in leadership.

Well done to our Year 8 students, who have demonstrated incredible determination, self-discipline and resilience. Their effort was celebrated and recognised at their recent assembly.
Isabel (8Q) won the recent competition, "What does exemplary effort look like?". Her work defines excellence through a growth mindset, curiosity and resilience. Isabel highlights that being exemplary means taking risks, being organised, and learning from mistakes through slow and steady improvement. You will soon see Isabel’s poster displayed in the Year 8 tutor bases.
