Weekly Highlights and Latest News
Our GCSE Exhibition brought a wonderful opportunity for community spirit to the Auditorium this week. Our talented Year 11 students received an incredible amount of support from families, peers, teachers and staff.
Each piece on display beautifully reflected the fruit of personalised learning, proving how giving students the space to shape their own creative direction leads to truly exceptional outcomes. Whether showcased through detailed artist journals or confident on-site presentations, the exhibition was a testament to what happens when individual potential is nurtured. We cannot wait to see where their passion and creative skills take them next.
On Monday and Tuesday, our Year 8 students took their learning beyond the classroom during a vibrant Yum Cha cultural experience at a local dim sum restaurant.
Connecting directly with their MYP "Food and Culture" unit, students actively practised their Chinese in an authentic, real-world setting. From ordering in the local language to navigating traditional table etiquette, our students fully immersed themselves in the culture, turning a delicious meal into a powerful, student-driven language experience.
Last week, some Year 9 students across ESF departed for rural Queensland, Australia, embarking on an exciting six-week, life-changing learning journey.
Our students have been highly engaged in team-bonding challenges, and the trust and communication they have built over the past two weeks reflect their strong sense of belonging within the ESF family. We look forward to seeing them deepen their personalised character development throughout the remainder of the programme.

On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from the French Consulate General and the Alliance Française in Hong Kong and the Alliance Française. They witnessed firsthand the strong position of French culture and language within our curriculum.
Our Year 10 students demonstrated a vibrant learning spirit during this language and cultural immersion experience. Well done to our students for showing such passion for languages as we work towards our shared goal of achieving School For Excellence in French.
On Thursday night, our Year 13 students came together for a wonderful Graduation Dinner to celebrate their time at West Island School.
The event was a beautiful reflection of their incredible growth, maturity and shared memories. As our graduates stand ready to embrace the future, we wish them all the very best of luck in their upcoming exams and every success in life beyond West Island School.
