A huge well done to all our students who were honoured at this year’s Sports Awards Ceremony on Thursday evening. Their dedication, teamwork, and outstanding achievements across a wide range of sports have truly inspired our community. Thank you to the parents who attended the ceremony.
Huge congratulations to Emily, Tea, Zoe and Maya for representing Hong Kong in the U21 Bauhinia Cup! They competed against teams from India, the Maldives and Chinese Taipei, delivering outstanding performances throughout the tournament. It was a fantastic result for Hong Kong, with the team finishing in 1st place.

This morning, Year 9 students explored a wide range of careers at our annual Careers Fair. Our Higher Education Department curated an impressive lineup of seasoned professionals from a wide array of industries, including Arts & Media, Architecture & Design, Aviation, Business, Management & Hospitality, Health & Wellness, and Technology.
With curiosity and enthusiasm, students asked thoughtful questions, eager to connect their passions with real-world possibilities. This event encouraged reflection on how their learning at WIS can support their aspirations and prepare them for life beyond school.
On Wednesday, the ESF Evening of Dance lit up the WIS stage with an impressive showcase of talent from 12 ESF schools. Students performed a vibrant mix of dance styles, celebrating creativity, collaboration and cultural expression. Stay tuned for our next newsletter to watch the performance highlights video!
This week, our Summer Concert Series brought students and teachers together in the music room for an inspiring performance. It was wonderful to see them sharing the stage and creating memorable musical moments together.
One of these outstanding musicians is Year 7 student Cristofer, who represented West Island School in the Hong Kong Joint School Music Association competition and secured first place with his exceptional performance.
Year 12 IB Theatre students and Year 10 students visited the Hong Kong Arts Centre today to watch Carrie The Musical by Face Productions. The show featured several talented members of the West Island School community, including Year 10 student Geoffrey, Year 11 student Bella and Mrs Murchie.
It was a fabulous production - congratulations to the entire cast and crew! It was wonderful to see our students thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Year 12 students toured the Legislative Council, gaining insights into Hong Kong’s electoral process and governance. They observed a live debate on public housing, linking real-world politics to course concepts such as legitimacy and power. It was a valuable experience that brought classroom theory to life.
As the academic year winds down, next week marks the final week of CAS activities - an opportunity to reflect on all the growth, creativity and challenges students have embraced.
Year 7 students, in particular, have explored new passions and developed valuable skills through the programme.

Each year, we offer an access programme that welcomes one student from JCSRS to join our Learning Support Centre (LSC) Visual Arts lessons.
Our Visual Arts Corridor will shine a spotlight on the creative talents of our LSC students, along with a JCSRS student who is in his final year. Please sign up here to join us at the opening to celebrate their creativity and talent!

Nine talented WIS student artists will have their beautiful work showcased in the upcoming ESF Art Exhibition, centered around the theme of Generations. Our WIS collection explores powerful ideas of connection, resilience, identity and time. You will also see artwork created by students from across 22 ESF schools - from K1 to Year 13 - to reflect on the people who shape our lives. Through painting, sculpture, mixed media and more, our ESF students' work celebrates connection, continuity and the creativity that links one generation to the next.
Everyone is welcome - admission is free. Come support our amazing students and discover the stories behind their art.
