This week, we celebrated and supported our community partners through a range of activities including fundraising. Thank you to the community for your enthusiasm.
Seventy percent of students participated in the Box of Hope, totalling 386 boxes being collected, which breaks our school record for the number of boxes collected for this cause.

Year 12 Matthew Lok represented Hong Kong in the AFC U17 Asian Cup.
U20A-Boys football won at 2-0 an game against Creative Secondary School on Oct. 23.

Our Boys A Grade Badminton Team started their season with a win against Korean International School (KIS) at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre on 14 October.
In the HKSSF Inter School Badminton competitions, our Girls A Grade Badminton Team started their season with a thrilling 3 - 2 win over Lingnan Hang Yee Memorial Secondary School on 23 October in Siu Sai Wan Sports Centre.
Year 8 students attended the theatre production Macbeth at the Rita Tong Liu Drama Theatre in Wan Chai as they study the play in school this term.
Enfys Jenkins, Class of 2010, gave an alumni speech on her law career to students on October 29th during our lunch hour.
With extensive experience in high-profile cases, Enfys has represented clients such as the UK tabloid newspaper The Sun in the libel claim brought by Hollywood star Johnny Depp and acted for national UK newspapers in various defamation cases. Her intellectual property work includes representing Eminem's record label in a copyright dispute and handling cases involving celebrities and designers in matters of copyright and design rights.

West Island Students attended DGSMUN (Diocesan Girls' School Model United Nations) over a weekend and won a best delegation in the UNGA award, most improved delegation in the UNGA as well, gained a couple most outstanding delegate awards, and various honorable mentions.
Year 12 Yiu Li participated in the 19th Asia Pacific Outstanding Youth Piano Competition and won 2nd place in the Youth Advanced Class.
Year 8 Olivia Hyde has passed five rounds of auditions and been selected as a soloist for the concert “The Snowman and The Bear” with City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong this year.
Year 11 Anya Law completed the Dressage Show at BREC and she earned 1st place at Novice 4 Ranking Class and 2nd place at Novice 5 Ranking Class.
Our students were able to attend a screening of animated short films and treat themselves to some French pastries on Tuesday 22 October.
West Island School took part in the “Festival du cinéma d'animation” organised by the Institut Français and the Consulate of France in Hong Kong.

We created this cartoon to celebrate all the teachers who have been brave enough to dance every year during Diwali Ball. Your courage to take risks in stepping out of your comfort zone is inspiring.
