Principal's Message

Dear West Island community,

I hope everybody has enjoyed a restful summer and got to spend time with family and friends, as we welcome you back to a new academic year.

Over the summer, perhaps many of you have joined the 35 million viewers of the Paris Olympics to cheer for the athletes, despite being in different time zones.

Students and teachers/staff - please share a highlight of your summer holiday here on this Padlet page. We would love to hear what you have been up to.

While you have been away, there are a few exciting news in our community–we have a renovated school administration office, a new Wisaccino, and a new lunch caterer; we are welcoming new teachers into our community (click here to get to know them); over 40 WIS students who have graduated this past academic year have received ESF Chairman’s Awards; and a few WIS students have dedicated themselves to organise a panel talk regarding student athletes’ mental health, especially after they have achieved new goals (click here to see the talk's details).

Some of you may have taken trips to places you have never been to; participated in volunteering or internship; tried out new hobbies; visited and connected with people you love; or simply relaxed in the comfort of your home.

Over this school year, we will consistently inform you with the news and stories taking place in our community. You can follow our Instagram (wis_hk), Facebook and LinkedIn accounts for these updates.

Last but not least, any news regarding the school library can be found at the library’s new Instagram account @wis_library .

Higher Education and Careers

This summer Michael Hirsch from the Higher Education and Careers Team was able to attend the International Association for College Admission Counseling Conference in London, Ontario hosted by Western Univeristy. It was exciting to attend workshops on best practices and raise West Island School’s profile on the international stage. The conference was attended by nearly 600 counsellors from over 70 countries, as well as 400 universities from 30 countries. It was a great opportunity to learn and network, and it is exciting to see that several of the universities that he met with this summer are booked to visit our campus this fall.
