This week, we celebrated Horizons Week, a time for students to learn beyond their regular classroom experiences.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Ms. Gigi Cheung, Ms. Jessica Gilbert, and all the dedicated teachers and staff who worked tirelessly to create these enriching opportunities for our students.
You can catch many of the week's highlights on our school social media channel here, and all the trip photos are available on the announcement page here.
Stay tuned for next week's newsletter, where we’ll share reflections from our students about their adventures.
To Mira Chung (Year 13 Qing 3):
"It's really inspiring how you're able to constantly spread so much positivity in any situation, not to mention your incredible artwork that can be recognised anywhere in school. Thank you for being a great person!"
To Ms Kerry Rochester:
"Thank you for the energy, passion and creativity that you share with the students. 'Curious Incident' is proof that it all matters."
To Hey Hey Tam (Year 7 Tang 2):
"Thank you for making me laugh everyday!"
And to all who have shared a heartfelt compliment to someone in the West Island Community, thank you and please continue to share a compliment here.
We will select no more than three compliments each week to share with the community. Your name will not be shown, but the name of the person to whom the compliment is addressed will appear in the newsletter.
Year 12 student Natalie Luk has been invited to participate the naming ceremony of a swimming pool named in the honor of the celebrated Olympian swimmer Siobhan Haughey.
Natalie said:“I was truly honored to be invited to the opening ceremony of the SCAA Siobhan Haughey Outdoor Aquatic Centre. The excitement I felt being on stage and taking a group photo with Siobhan Haughey, along with my peers and coaches, was unforgettable."
The South China Morning Post has published a story on this that you can read here.
During a tour in Beijing, Year 10 student Wesley Lai had a morning ballet class daily and rehearsal until evening. He spent 12 hours in the theatre with Hong Kong Ballet company dancers every day. During his standby for the performances, he did school homework.

His next stage is the Christmas performance The Nutcracker. He’s been rehearsing it since summer holiday and will have the final stage rehearsals with all company dancers from next week.
