Year 10 had a celebration assembly this morning for Learner Profile and 100% attendance.
Over 350 passionate young girls from 42 schools across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area gathered on March 15th for CodeHers — a student-led conference dedicated to bridging the gender gap in computer science and STEM ever-present in today’s tech-centric society.
Our representatives, Akshi Bansal and Navya Kedia represented WIS through their efforts in organising such a prestigious event. They have been part of the team built up of dedicated young girls from 11 partner schools to put the event together.
Through the 40 workshops running throughout the day — CodeHers allowed a diverse group of girls to explore computer science and STEM — some of them for the first time — in a supportive, and encouraging environment.
This term our CAS Secret Angels group wanted to give a personalised affirmation message to every Year 11 student in advance of their study leave and summer exams.
This morning the students delivered these messages to the appreciation of the students who were enjoying their final tutor time together.
Good luck to all our students beginning their study leave and thank you to the Secret Angels.
From April 22nd-25th, WIS will be celebrating Book Week. Activities will be on every lunch time, from making personalised bookmarks, roof-top reading and book swaps. The week will end with character dress-up day on April 25th. All students are encouraged to come in costume and get involved!
On Saturday 29 March, the Association of Teachers of French in Hong Kong and Macau (AFLE) hosted the 13th edition of the “Dictée de l’AFLE.”
This dictation exercise has become a beloved tradition in France and among francophone communities worldwide. During the event, teachers dictated passages while students worked diligently to transcribe them as accurately as possible. This exercise demanded intense focus and a strong grasp of French syntax and grammar.
“Félicitations” to all our WIS students who demonstrated their academic dedication and commitment to excellence. Results and certificates of competency will be awarded in the coming weeks.
With home court advantage, our Boys and Girls U20 Badminton Teams won their semifinal matches on 28 March 2025. With injury, exams, and personal commitments, our teams had to adapt their strategies and change their lineups throughout the course of the season.
Despite WIS' best efforts against strong and disciplined teams, we fell short of winning the gold medal game held on the same day.
Shoutout to Mr. Cobley for the opportunity to compete in the ISSFHK this season. Special thanks to our graduating seniors - Joanna Bi (13Q1), Kotick Chan (13Y1), and Isaac Wong (13Y2) for consistently giving their best.
