Next week is Shark Week. We invite students and staff members to wear blue and green on Wednesday.
If you would like to support us with a small donation, please bring 20HKD to donate on the way into school and money to spend as you wish on our charity stalls during lunchtime on that day.

West Island School will celebrate Mental Health Week from Monday, February 10, 2025, to Friday, 14 February, 2025. This week will feature a variety of activities and events aimed at reducing stigma surrounding mental health, fostering open conversations, and enhancing the skills of our community.
We are pleased to invite WIS parents to an evening at WIS “Finding the Balance for Academic Success” on Thursday, 13 February, 2025. This session will provide parents with knowledge and information and practical strategies to support children in achieving academic success, focusing on aspects such as sleep, stress management, and effective communication.
Year 12 Nathan Hung represented the National Team of the Philippines at the 2024 Asian Powerlifting Championships in Uzbekistan.
Nathan achieved first place in Squat, and second place in bench press, deadlift, and total score.
"This was a proud moment for me, and I’m grateful for the values and support I’ve gained from my school community that helped me reach this milestone," he said.
The following students were given a HKAYP silver award for 12 months of improving a skill, 6 months of completing a service activity, 6 months improving a physical activity and 4 days hiking and camping.

Student Leader (Year 10 only)

Student Ambassador (Years 7-10)
Support new student transitions and help new families settle into the West Island School community through planned events and experience visits.
Assist with school tours and support WIS events as needed.
Student Voice Ambassador (Years 7-10)
Support staff in seeking student opinions on various topics.
Collect and process data, and present feedback to different groups, including the school leadership team.
Health Ambassador (Years 9-12)
Lead student initiatives such as the Wellbeing Buddy Programme, Nutrition Competition, and Food Allergy Awareness Week.
Help organize Mental Health Week and promote general health within the school community.
Students must complete an application form for their chosen role.
The deadline for applications is February 7th.
Successful candidates will be announced by Friday, March 14th.
