Year 10 Meisa Kistler and Olivia Carter made a video about their servie at Sai Kung Stray Friends.
Meisa said:" Olivia and I both greatly enjoy the process of designing and making videos whether it's based on school topics or outside of school. We used an editing platform called CapCut, which is very well-known as it is easy and simple to use.
"Initially, at the first meeting of the Sai Kung Stray Friends group, we volunteered to be the 'vloggers', and over the course of a few days at the site, our interests really grew and we knew we had to spread the word.
"If you aspire to create videos/photos/pieces of writing, you should one hundred percent do it!"

On Sunday before Horizon Week, we encouraged students in Year 7 and their parents to support a "no tech" Sunday so that students could have a break from their devices and experience a day without technology before camp.
We conducted separate student and parent surveys to collate some feedback - please find below headline insights for your information:
Parents:
80% of parents rated their child's experience as excellent or good
75% of parents rated their child's mood as very happy or happy without their tech
Most of their children tried something new including ice skating, crocheting and hiking to name a few examples
75% of parents want their child to use their tech less
91% of parents want us to run more no tech days in the future
When asked about insights, parents commented on enjoying family time, communicating more easily with their child, taking the opportunity to talk about use of tech as a family or realising as parents they also use their tech too much.
Students
61% of students rated their day as excellent or good
43% of students said that they were "relieved they didn't have to keep looking at their phone"
When asked what they learnt, comments include better sleep, realising they don't always need to be on their tech and having more socialising time in person with friends
54% of students want to use their tech less
43% of students want us to repeat no tech days in the future (26% weren't sure)
Feedback indicates that parents and a large number of students want to spend less time on their tech, enjoy better connections as a family and would like us to run more days like this in the future.
On Tuesday WIS was extremely lucky to have Ms Dorothy Chan the Managing Director, Head of Philanthropy Services and Advisory at Asia Pacific HSBC Global Private Banking and Mr Peter Paul de Groote Director of the Kadoorie Charitable Foundation come to speak to our high school students. These two eminent guests spoke about their career and educational journeys, the complementary nature of charity and philanthropy, and how all of us both through our careers and personal choices can make the world a better place. It was a truly inspirational session that opened our students up to the world of possibilities that exist through personal volunteering, donating, working for an NGO, and engaging in corporate social responsibility initiatives.
