We are thrilled to share the highlights from last Friday's BTEC Digital Design Exhibition, which showcased the remarkable talents of our Year 13 students.
Guests were truly impressed with the quality of the design work on display, reflecting the hard work and dedication of our students throughout their time on the ID/IBCP program at WIS.
This celebration not only marked the culmination of their efforts but also served as a testament to their creativity and innovation.
While we are still awaiting all university offers, it is encouraging to see that this outstanding cohort has already received offers from 23 different university courses in creative fields, including seven prestigious scholarships across the UK, Canada, and the US for their exceptional portfolio submissions.
This success highlights how the IBCP and ID pathway effectively translate to acceptance into outstanding arts and design universities. Congratulations to our talented designers!

Throughout the months of January and February, the annual Weez Walk takes place, an event to raise awareness for youth mental health and suicide prevention.
Founded in 2021 by Tony Bruno in memory of his son Jamie Bruno. The walk is an annual event which has grown over the years. This year many WIS students and staff and wider families completed the challenge - a 58km route around Hong Kong island which can either be completed in one go or stages.
Some notable achievements were WIS alumni student Maya Tobback who completed the overall fastest time of 6hrs, 32mins, Mr Chris Garvey who completed the route 3 times and was the top individual fundraiser with $18,400 raised and Mr Guy Hewson who completed the route in the fastest family time of 9hr 22 mins.
Congratulations to all students and staff (I&S faculty have completed it 4 years in a row) who ran and walked the route and thank you to everyone who donated to the Weez project.
The Bruno family are always in our community’s heart being parents of Jamie who attended West Island. Next year we plan increase participation to support this important cause by having a range of different activities to participate in the Weez Walk.
See you in 2026!
March is the month of La Francophonie, a celebration of French-speaking cultures and communities around the world. To kick off the festivities, a football competition was open to all French learners in Hong Kong last Sunday.
WIS entered a team consisting of six students from Y9 and Y10. Despite facing challenging opponents and the first heatwave of the year, we emerged victorious in the Teen 1 (U14) category! Congratulations to Luz, Nathan, Taku, Jacob, Malachi, and Ilias. A big "Merci" to the French Consulate and the PSG Academy for organising this exciting and enjoyable event.
On Wednesday, March 5, our Year 12 French IB students attended the inaugural conference of the Francophonie Festival at the Hong Kong Central Library.
This event officially launched the "mois de la Francophonie" in Hong Kong and featured talks from the Consuls General of France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada. Additionally, there was an interview with two Francophone authors who shared insights about their creative works.
Following the authors' discussion, two musicians performed two songs from the iconic q978 rock opera “Starmania”, adding a delightful musical element to the event.
This was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 12 students to immerse themselves in the diversity and richness of Francophone culture. We look forward to the array of Francophone activities available at WIS and in Hong Kong later this month.
A team of five students has achieved Team 1st runner-up (Hong Kong) for the MIT Engineers without Borders (EWB) Science and Engineering competition.
On top of the team award, Joshua Chow(12S1) also achieved individual 1st runner-up in Hong Kong, while Anson Pang(12Y1) and Aiden Pun(12Y2) also earned individual merit and honor awards.
On Tuesday, Boys Basketball U-20A team competed with Discovery College with a 4-0 victory.
