Today, our Year 9 Computer Science students visited UBS at ICC for a hands-on introduction to algorithmic trading using Python. Mentored by UBS staff, they tackled real-world trading problems and explored tech careers in finance. This valuable experience boosts their coding confidence and prepares them for GCSE Computer Science next year.
This year, 22 students from Years 7 to 11 have been awarded membership to The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE).
Following a nine-month selection process - including self-nomination, academic assessments in Science, Maths, or English, personal profile submissions and school recommendations - our students have earned this remarkable achievement.
As HKAGE members, they will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of lectures, workshops, and mentoring programmes across STEAM, languages, humanities and leadership training. We look forward to seeing them make the most of these enriching opportunities.
Bravo to our talented student musicians who represented WIS at the recent Hong Kong Schools Music Festival! Our students achieved an impressive one gold, thirteen silver, and ten bronze awards. We are proud of every participant for showcasing their commitment, courage, and passion. The invaluable experience gained will no doubt contribute to their continued musical growth. Congratulations to all our musicians on their fantastic efforts!
Gold award winner, Year 7 student Norbert, teamed up with Neil and Sofia, who are in the same year group. As a trio, they won first place in the Chamber Music Group category at the China Youth Music Competition (CYMC) Hummingbird Music Awards held in Shenzhen.
Last Friday, our WIS Chinese Debate Team secured a win in the second round and earned a ‘Best Debater’ award at the ESF Chinese Debate Competition hosted by Sha Tin College. Throughout the competition, our students demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, organisation and communication skills, gaining valuable experience along the way. They shared that the experience enhanced their logical thinking, confidence and teamwork, contributing meaningfully to their overall learning journey. Well done to our WIS Chinese Debate Team!
Year 11 student Haidi Wu won the Senior Championship at the Challenge Cups Fencing Championships. This impressive win marks a key milestone in her fencing journey and signals a promising future ahead. Congratulations to Haidi!
The U14 Boys Touch Rugby team prevailed in a hard-fought match against their opponent to claim the gold medal and first place in touch rugby. This marks a fantastic achievement, as the team has gone from strength to strength throughout the season, consistently demonstrating skill and flair in abundance.
Players of the game were Tom, who scored a hat-trick of tries and Jackson, recognised for his outstanding footwork, vision and go-forward play.
Well done, team!
The U14 Cricket boys triumphed in the ISSFHK Cricket 8's.
They were undefeated in pool play and prevailed in a close final against their opponent team with standout bowling. Well done!
Well done to all the U12 and U14 Girls Netball teams who have competed in the ISSFHK league this term. Three of our teams have made it into the semi-finals: U14 C1, U14 C3, and U12. Best of luck to all players - Let’s go, team!
Our graduate Gisselle teamed up with three-time Olympic swimmer Camille Cheng and Hong Kong rower Claire Burley to lead a “Torch and Mind The Waves” workshop for 30 WIS student-athletes, focused on building mental fitness. The workshop aimed to equip high-performance student-athletes with strategies to overcome adversity and tools to break through mental blocks in their respective sports. One of the highlights was developing the “Power Pose,” which proved particularly popular among participants.
