Today, keynote speaker Kirun Goy spoke to Year 10 to 13 students about using neuroscience-backed methods to improve exam performance.
For Year 13 students, he provided skills and advice on what students can do to approach obstacles such as procrastination, lack of focus, ineffective memorization, no deliberate practice and distress overload.
He also mentioned that the expectation of practicing these skills is to increase the probability of success, but it is important to be realistic and know that it does not guarantee success.
A huge thank you to the WIS community for joining together to raise a whopping HK$25,544.50 for Bethune House today. This is a substantial contribution that will support a very important grassroots organisation that helps vulnerable domestic helpers here in Hong Kong.
Edwina, the manager of Bethune House, has thanked WIS for their contribution. She says:" This means a lot to us. Every donation counts especially at a time when we needed it the most. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. "
Year 12 student Matthew Lok has been selected into the U17 AFC qualifiers for Hong Kong Representative Team.

The deadline for application is Tuesday 26th September - apply through the Limitless website: https://limitless.esf.edu.hk/
Below are what West Island students who went on Limitless in the past said:
'You should go on Limitless because it is an amazing experience and so much fun. It is a time for you to push yourself in every way and really challenge yourself'
'Limitless is the experience of a lifetime. The memories you make will last forever!!'
'Limitless was the best experience ever. I had a huge group of friends whilst I was there and even if you don’t know anyone going, you will make heaps of new friends. We did so many things from canoeing, to running (only if you want, you can walk if not), to hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing/ziplining.'
'Limitless was such an amazing experience that a single paragraph couldn't explain how much I enjoyed it. We learnt so many new things and skills that are so useful for the future and I have made lifelong friends there that I will never forget. I would do anything to go back and just relive that 6 weeks.'
'Limitless was a unique opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and boost my confidence. There were so many activities, including rock climbing, mountain biking and canoeing. All of which made bonding with my group really fun. My instructors and my group were incredibly kind, making the experience even more enjoyable.'
'If you're nervous about heights or biking, don’t worry—your friends and instructors will be there to support and teach you. Activities are optional, so you can take your time, and if you’re really scared, you’re not forced to participate. Ultimately, Limitless is all about pushing your own boundaries; only you hold yourself back. Limitless is a time to forget about academic stress and simply embrace nature and connection with others.'
